How to Hide and Unhide Apps on Apple Devices

Whenever you need to hide an app in the App Store to prevent it from being redownloaded on iOS or macOS devices, you can do that via iTunes. And if necessary, all hidden applications are fairly easy to bring back into place.

Once you hide an application on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, it becomes invisible in App Store on every device connected to the same Apple ID. Already downloaded app will not be removed from the gadget, but you will not receive any update notifications.

To make this process easier for you, we have prepared a step-by-step guide to hiding applications on iOS and macOS devices.

Hiding Apps for iOS

Open the App Store; in the lower part of the screen, select Today.

  • Click on your picture in the upper right corner (if you haven’t set up a photo, there will be a circle with a blue silhouette of a person on a white background), then choose Purchases.
  • Find an app you want to be hidden, swipe it to the left and tap Hide.

If you have set up Family Sharing for the app that you’re hiding, the Family Organizer will keep receiving notifications each time the subscription is renewed. Hiding the app does not cancel the subscription and due payments.
