How to Use Siri on iOS Devices?

Siri is an intelligent digital assistant that helps you perform routine tasks like sending text messages, emails, arrange your timetable, etc.

How to Ask Siri a Question?

Siri (Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface) is capable of processing voice queries and recognizing individual speech manner. Apart from this, the virtual assistant can answer questions, give advice and pass user requests to internet services. To ask Siri, press the Home or Side button on your iOS device, connect it to a headset or hands-free car kit. To activate Siri, say “Hey Siri.”

To launch Siri on iPhone X, press down the Side button to make a request.

Using “Hey Siri”

If you don’t want to press buttons, you can launch Apple’s digital assistant with a phrase ‘Hey Siri.’

  1. Check if the “Hey Siri” option is active in Settings -> Siri & Search -> listen for “Hey Siri.”
  2. Pronounce “Hey Siri,” then make your request. For instance, say something like “Hey Siri, what movies are on tonight?”

On iPhone 6s or later, and iPad Pro, you can use “Hey Siri” at any convenient time. However, on iPhone 6 or earlier, iPad, and iPod touch models, make sure to plug the iOS device into power before launching Siri. When you say “Hey Siri,” the assistant determines the device you’re using.

Note: Bluetooth should be enabled on your iOS device.

Press down the center button/call button and wait until you hear a chime. After that, make your request.

To use Siri with AirPods, double-tap on the outside of either one to launch the digital assistant.

Talk to Siri in Your Car

There is another option to activate and use Apple’s digital assistant in a car except saying “Hey Siri.”  If your car has the support of CarPlay or Siri Eyes Free, press down the voice-command button on the steering wheel, and request Siri.

In the event, you have a touchscreen supporting the CarPlay, press and hold the Home key on the screen to launch Siri. To let it know you have finished talking, tap the audio-wave button.  This feature is useful if there is background noise which prevents Siri from hearing what you say. Also, it you launch Messages or Phone apps, you can also connect to Siri.

Note: Siri is highly adaptable depending on how you establish your connection. For instance, if you’re using a wired/Bluetooth headset, Siri Eyes Free, or CarPlay, the Apple’s digital assistant reads the messages aloud to get your approval before sending.
